Rent Auditions

Auditions for the rock musical Rent will be held at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall at 1158 East 12th St.
Rent will be directed and choreographed by Richard Davis.

ALL ROLES ARE OPEN!

Ages- 18 and up. You must be at least 18 by auditions - no exceptions!

Show dates August 5-8, 11-15, 19-22, 26-28, 2010.

Rehearsals will begin June 21st.

Rent auditions will be a little different from regular auditions, as we are anticipating a large turn out.

You must be able to attend one of the audition dates and the call back date.
There will be no private auditions forRent.

For your audition you must provide the folowing:

-32 bars of a rock and roll/pop song not from Rent but in the style of Rent, with piano accompaniment. You can not use CD accompaniment.

-Your song must be memorized and performed.

-A 2 minute memorized monologue.

From these auditions we will select a callback list of performers. The callback list will be posted online after each audition night.

Callbacks will be held on June 14th at 7:00 pm.

For Callbacks you must provide the following:

-32 bars of a song from Rent memorized and performed.

-You may be asked to perform your monologue again.

-You may also be asked to sing additional songs from the score; these will not need to be memorized.

-There will also be a short movement audition.

ANGEL DUMOTT SCHUNARD A transvestite street drummer infected with HIV. Increible dancer with a magnetic personality.
C3 - A4 (Tenor)
BENJAMIN COFFIN III Wealthy landlord of Mark and Roger's building. Benny wants to start a multimedia studio.
Eb3 - F4 (Tenor)
JOANNE JEFFERSON A headstrong public interest lawyer, and Maureen's lover.
Bb3 - E5 (Alto)
MARK COHEN A filmmaker and video artist, determined to capture "real" life on film. Roger's roommate.
C#3 - G4 (Tenor)
MAUREEN JOHNSON A performance artist and Mark's ex-girlfriend.
C4 - F5 (Soprano Belt)
MIMI MARQUEZ A dancer with AIDS and a drug problem. Desperate for a place to feel safe and protected.
F#3 - E5 (Alto)
ROGER DAVIS An edgy, struggling musician who's HIV+. He hopes to write one last meaningful song before he dies.
B2 - A4 (Tenor)
TOM COLLINS An HIV+ computer genius who has recently returned to New York after an absence. Has a deep capacity for love and understanding.
F#2 - A4 (Baritenor)
There is only one high A (A4) for this character. It is of short duration.
