How do you capture the impact of the Erie Playhouse?
That’s the challenge we face every year as we put together Connection, our annual report to donors and patrons like you. How do you translate the number of smiles on the faces of children experiencing live theatre for the first time? How do you reflect the enthusiasm of audience members attending sold-out performances? How do you tell the story of hundreds of volunteers and the bonds they form working together? How do you demonstrate the profound influence of Youtheatre classes in the rehearsal hall and of PLAYtime programming in our schools?
In this year’s report, we’ll do our best to convey the impact of the Playhouse by highlighting key moments from the past year, reporting on our financial position, and sharing just a few of the many incredible stories of another transformational year.
The story of the Playhouse is the story of the people who make it all possible.
2025’s Soaring Tales and Epic Adventures came to life through the work of hundreds of actors, singers, instrumentalists, dancers and artists of all stripes. Our incredible production staff took audiences from a diner in smalltown U.S.A. to the deserts of Egypt, from a feline-filled junkyard to a magical place called Arendelle. Lavish costumes and scenery, lush lighting and powerful music transported us all. And our incredible administrative staff made sure our journeys took flight without a hitch!
It’s all made possible thanks to our community including businesses and organizations who partner with us for sponsorships and playbill ads; ticket subscribers whose purchases bring financial stability and predictability to our operations; and incredible donors who helped us surpass our Annual Fund goal for the second year in a row! While we fell short in some areas, growing community support and increasing audience numbers have us feeling optimistic about 2026 and beyond.
As Executive Director of this legendary institution, I’m grateful for the trust you put in me and our team. We know how much the Playhouse means to our community, and we’re committed to doing the important work to ensure our theatre thrives today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
