Auditions are coming up for Erie Playhouse productions of THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, THE DA VINCI CODE and CATS!
THE PRINCE OF EGYPT:
Auditions will be held January 12 & 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall. Rehearsals will begin January 18, and performances are March 28 – April 13, 2025. You must be at least 12 years of age by the date of auditions, and in addition to the adult ensemble there will be two children aged 10 to 14 cast. All roles are open, and the Erie Playhouse practices Color Conscious casting.
Audition Requirements: Please prepare to sing a brief (32 measures) musical theatre song or similar style of your choosing. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key or a karaoke track.. An accompanist will be provided. Also prepare a brief monologue no longer than 1 ½ minutes. There will be a dance audition as well so wear appropriate footwear and clothes you can move in.
Synopsis: Journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as Ramses and Moses, two young men raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever.

THE DA VINCI CODE:
Auditions will be held on April 6th and 7th at 6:30 p.m. at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall. Rehearsals will begin April 21, with performances June 13 – 29, 2025. All roles are open, and the Erie Playhouse practices Color Conscious casting.
Audition Requirements: All who audition will be asked to do a cold reading from the script, provided upon arrival. In addition, you have the option to prepare and perform a brief monologue no longer than 1 ½ minutes.
Synopsis: In this thrilling play based on Dan Brown’s best selling international phenomenon, Professor Robert Langdon is called to the Louvre in the dead of the night, where he unwittingly becomes the center of a murder investigation. When cryptologist Sophie Neveu arrives at the scene she alerts Robert that, not only is he being asked to solve a crime, he is also the prime suspect. Soon they are on a race against time to clear Robert’s name and decipher a labyrinthine code before a shocking historical secret is lost forever.

CATS: 
Auditions will be held on April 19th and 26th at noon at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall. Rehearsals will begin in May, with performances July 25 – August 17, 2025. In preparation for CATS auditions, we will hold a series of classes beginning March 15th, teaching various dance combinations used during the audition process. The class will consist of a strength and stretch building warmup followed by a combination, and each class will be approx. 2 – 2.5 hours in length. Attendance – though encouraged – is not mandatory to audition.

Synopsis: The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year – the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one, they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.
