(Erie, PA) The Glorious Ones, the Erie Playhouse entry at ESTA (Eastern States Theatre Association) Theatre Festival held in Wilmington, Delaware this weekend, was awarded the honor of Outstanding Production last night (Saturday, April 8) at the awards ceremony. The Playhouse is, once again, recognized as one of the 10 best community theatres in the nation. The Playhouse was first awarded the honor when they competed in the same competition in 1985.
The production was also recognized for, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Achievement in Directing (Almitra Clerkin), Outstanding Achievement in Costumes (Ryan Ingram and Crystal Corritore), Outstanding Achievement in Set Design (Christine Daugherty), and they received the Stage Manager award, which recognizes overall professionalism.
Others in the competition included theatres from Delaware, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey.
The Playhouse now advances to the AACTFest national competition, which will be in Rochester, Minnesota June 26-July 1. AACTFest involves community theatres from AACT’s 10 regions, who enter productions for adjudication and advancement from state to regional to national level. AACTFest is thus a celebration of theatre and a learning experience for those who take part.
