The ever-popular Youtheatre Play Series returns this summer to the stage at the Blasco Library. Featured shows include:

The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales – Friday, August 3 at 10:00am, Saturday, August 4 at 11:00am, Sunday, August 5 at 2:00pm

Though the characters may be familiar, each of your favorite storybook fables is uproariously derailed in this adaptation of Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith’s quintessential children’s book of fractured fairy tales. Everything from “Chicken Little” to “The Gingerbread Man” gets a complete makeover. Fun music and witty narration accompany the likes of ineloquent giants, sassy barnyard animals, colossal cow pies, and enough stinky cheese to go around.

The Grimm Brothers Spectaculathon – Friday, August 3 & Saturday, August 4 at 7:00pm

The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicki attempt to combine all 209 stories ranging from classics like Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel to more bizarre, obscure stories like The Devil’s Grandmother and The Girl Without Hands. A wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.

Break the Spell  – Saturday, August 4 at 11:00am & Sunday, August 5 @ 2:00pm

Created by the director and cast, Break the Spell follows six princesses as they go to the Royal Ball for their happily ever after. But happily ever after is profoundly different for each of them as they learn that true happiness comes from within.
