The Erie Playhouse is currently looking for Interns for our 2018/2019 season. Internships are available in Administration and Production areas. Internships can be either full- or part-time. There is no compensation for interns, but school credit may be available through your institution.
Administrative internships offer experience in all areas of theatre management. Interns will help with projects involving, but not limited to, box office, marketing, education, grant writing, special events and production management. Candidates with business experience in general management, sales, marketing, or public relations are preferred. Good knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Word, Excel, and Photoshop are preferred.
Production internships offer experience in all aspects of theatre production. Lighting and scenic interns work with the scenic/lighting designer in the construction, painting of, and movement of scenery, as well as helping to maintain the scenic storage area. The intern is also exposed to all areas of lighting design. Interns will have opportunities to run crew, stage manage, and/or be a lighting technician when available. Candidates should have some knowledge of scenic carpentry and a background in technical theatre. Scenic/lighting interns must be available for morning hours and some evenings and weekends.
Costume shop interns work with the costume designer in the Costume Shop/Costume warehouse. The intern will work in the cleaning and storing of costumes and maintaining the costume warehouse. Depending on the individual's skills, the intern may assist in fabric sorting, stitching, and crafts. If time permits, the Intern may work with the costume designer at the theatre during tech and dress rehearsals. Interns must have good sewing skills and have some general costume shop experience. Costume interns must have flexible hours.
