Auditions for the Erie Playhouse special event MISCAST – a one-night-only musical spectacular featuring local performers, performing songs from roles in which they may not traditionally be cast – will be held on July 16th at 7:00 p.m. at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall at 1158 East 12th Street.
Auditionees should be prepared to sing 32 measures of a musical theatre song of their choosing, and come prepared with sheet music in the appropriate key or a karaoke track; an accompanist will be provided. Find more audition details here!
“MISCAST is a fun and creative way for people to step outside the boxes of what our bodies and voices would traditionally limit us to when performing a role or roles in a musical,” said director, Kyle Filbeck. “So much of being in a musical that already exists can be fitting yourself into the mold of what is written. Taking a night that truly allows us to transcend gender or age and experience the pure feeling behind beloved songs we love, but wouldn’t get to sing within the context of the shows they are a part of, is an invaluable experience for all.”
Erie Playhouse presents: MISCAST will be held at Room 33 Speakeasy & Cafe, located at 1033 State Street, Erie, PA, 16501, on August 18 at 6 p.m.; directed by Kyle Filbeck with musical direction by Devon Yates.
“In a world that continues to struggle with conversations around gender roles and identity, it’s a perfect way to showcase and experience the universal nature of human emotions through song,” Filbeck said.
