Join us at the Playhouse as we make history, marking a spectacular theatrical milestone: EMMA! A POP MUSICAL JV is the 1400th production by the Erie Playhouse!
The Playhouse’s storied past leading to this night began on January 18, 1916, with an evening of one act plays performed at the Reed Hotel on North Park Row: including GALATEA OF THE TOY SHOP, I’M GOING, and SUNSET. With 99 audience members in attendance, history was made and the path to today’s 1400th production began.
Starting this evening through November 16, Erie Playhouse Youtheatre presents a sparkling combination of classic Jane Austen with the iconic pop music you know and love with EMMA! A POP MUSICAL JV!
“It’s fitting that we reach this milestone with a Youtheatre production,” said Playhouse Executive Director Zach Flock, “because our young performers are our future. We’ve been producing theatre for more than a century because generation after generation have found a love for theatre, and a home, at the Playhouse.”
EMMA! A POP MUSICAL JV is a fierce twist on Jane Austen’s timeless tale “Emma,” with a splash of girl power and an iconic (and nostalgic!) pop soundtrack featuring “Brave” and “King of Anything” by Sara Bareilles, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, “How Will I Know” by Whitney Houston, “Roar” by Katy Perry, “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield – and so many more!
