From the iconic film and Stephen King novella to the stage adaptation directed by Brendan Daugherty and assistant director Kate Thiem, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION kicks off this weekend with our Premiere Weekend Celebration, September 13 & 14 with $19 general admission tickets. Regular performances continue through September 29.
Premiere Weekend on September 13 & 14 features:
- Live music from Jason Lawergren beginning at 6:30 p.m. under the Playhouse marquee. Jason was most recently seen in GUYS AND DOLLS on the Playhouse stage as Sky Masterson, and is currently in rehearsals for SWEENEY TODD, playing the title role.
- Custom gourmet popcorn flavors created just for THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION by PopLuck, including “Rooftop Beers,” “Red’s Rehabilitation,” and “Hotter than Rita,” on sale for $4.
- Specialty cocktails include the “Marga-Rita Hayworth,” and “Get Busy Sippin’.”
This thrilling stage production features Hayes Moses as Red, and Dan Winston in his Playhouse Mainstage debut as Andy Dufresne.
THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION also features James Howells, JR Fabin, Nick Iacobucci, Michael Weiss, Paul Bills, Ryan Sanders, Michael Rutter, Brian Bowersox, Ron Williams and Tristan Howells.
The show examines desperation, injustice, friendship and hope behind the claustrophobic bars of a maximum security facility. The 1994 feature film starred Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and was nominated for seven Academy Awards.
