Hello Dolly 01

Bursting with humor, romance, high-energy dancing, and some of the greatest songs in musical theater history, Hello, Dolly! is the perfect way to kick off our 102nd Season! The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher-Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” are certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again. One of Broadway’s most enduring musical theatre hits, with four Broadway revivals as well as 15 Tony Awards. (MS)


Miss Nelson 01

October 12−14, 19−21, 2018
Based on the popular childrens’ book series by Harry G. Allard Jr., Miss Nelson can't control her crazy classroom because she's just too nice. But when she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, substitute teacher Viola Swamp! With The Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they'll do anything—including hiring a private eye—to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back. Challenges in life and love test the resilience of a mother-daughter relationship in Dan Gordon′s adaptation of Terms of Endearment. This funny and touching story captures the delicate, sometimes fractured bonds between mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, and lovers, both old and new. (MS)


Matilda

Something magical is about to happen this holiday season at the Playhouse!

The international sensation, Matilda is the story of an extraordinary little girl with extraordinary powers. The daughter of neglectful parents, Matilda finds refuge in library books. Things are no better at school, where Matilda also must face a cruel headmistress. She finds companionship in her teacher, Miss Honey, though well-intentioned, is shy and fragile. Brave little Matilda knows she has to stand up against the adults in her world, and in doing so, discovers her own remarkable powers. (MS)

This romantic and comical adventure has all your beloved characters and a few more beside: the raven-haired and resourceful Snow White, the charming Prince Philippe, the evil and devious Queen, a witty and slightly beleaguered Magical Mirror—and of course, the Dwarfs. Evita 01

February 15 & 16, 21−24, 27−March 3, 2019

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita charts the young and ambitious Eva Peron’s passionate and unforgettable rise to sainthood. This stunning Tony-winning musical is based on the life of a B-picture Argentinian actress who eventually became the wife of Argentinian president Juan Perón, and the most beloved and hated woman in Argentina. Evita features some of theater’s most beautiful songs, including "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall," and "High Flying, Adored."  (MS)


Shakespeare 01

March 15 & 16, 21−24, 27−31, 2019

Playwright Will Shakespeare is trying to overcome writer's block and write his next play when he meets and falls for Viola, who loves the theatre (and decides to dress as a man in order to get a part in one of Shakespeare's plays.) This feel-good production is full of hilarious characters, stunning costumes, and clever references to the works of William Shakespeare. Most of all, though, it’s full of heart.  (MS)

This special concert event is filled with all of the music you love from composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, from shows like Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, and especially Phantom of the Opera. (SE)


Backbeard 01

May 10−12, 17−19, 2019

This rollicking musical tells the tale of Backbeard, the hairiest pirate who ever lived, and his quest to answer the question, "How should a pirate look?" Based on the popular children’s books by Matthew McElligott, it’s a high-spirited story of courage, acceptance, and standing up for who you are. (YT)


Freaky Friday 01

June 14 & 15, 20−23, 26−30, 2019

This delightfully spunky musical, based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.
