Book by Claudia Shear & Tim Federle Music by Chris Miller Lyrics by Nathan Tysen With a colorful score and cast of characters, Tuck Everlasting takes a well-known novel and brings it to life on stage. In this musical, young Winnie Foster meets the Tucks, an immortal family that is living on the edge of society, determined to keep their lives secret. When a greedy man threatens their way of life, Winnie is tasked with saving her new family. This show explores what it is be free and live a full life while asking the question, “If given the chance of immortality, would you take it?” Performance Dates: Friday, November 19 (7p), Saturday, November 20 (2p & 7p), and Sunday, November 21 (2p), with a possible addition of a school day matinee Monday, November 22 (10a) or Tuesday, November 23 (10a)

Auditions for Tuck Everlasting will take place in-person at the Erie Playhouse Rehearsal Hall, 1158 E. 12th St. Wednesday, September 8th at 6:00p, with dance auditions beginning at 7:15p. The production team is actively seeking a very ethnically diverse cast, is very open to non-traditional casting, and new actors are highly encouraged to audition!

Open to Ages 12 up to adult. Please note that we are looking for an ethnically diverse cast and new actors are highly encouraged to audition!

PLEASE NOTE: All actors who are eligible for vaccinations will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 PRIOR TO THE SHOW OPENING. You may be asked to provide your vaccination card for proof of vaccination. If you still need to receive a vaccination you can register through LECOM Health, UPMC, Rite Aid Pharmacies, and other venues. Please contact Kate if you need assistance making an appointment.

Auditions, rehearsals, and production will follow the Playhouse’s COVID-19 Protocols, which are available for review here.

What to Prepare:

Please prepare a short song (no longer than a minute and a half) When preparing your piece, keep in mind that the director would like to see how you interpret. The lyrics and convey character and emotions through your performance. You must have sheet music for our accompanist.

Please prepare a short monologue no longer than a minute. Again please do not just read words on a paper. While you are not required to memorize the monologue, the director would like to see you interpret the text and convey character, emotion and purpose in your performance.

You will also be asked to stay for a dance audition, as there is a ballet that ends the show. Auditionees may also choose to audition only for the ballet and will not need to sing or do a monologue. Please indicate that is your preference when emailing Kate for an audition time.

WINNIE FOSTER: Girl – 11 (11 – 14-may be cast with older actress). Soprano / Belt / Folk A3 – E5. Longing for romance and adventure, subtle actress with good comedic timing. Should move well.

JESSE TUCK: Male – 17. Tenor / Belt / Folk F3 – C5. Light & laughing, eternal youth with shadow of loneliness. Dancer.

MAE TUCK (Ma): Female – (40 – 50). Mezzo- Soprano / Belt / Folk. A3 – E5. The Matriarch, homespun wisdom is leavened by her humor and girlish delight. Moves well. Role will be pre-cast. Please contact Dom with interest.

ANGUS TUCK (Pa): Male – (40 – 50). Bari-Tenor / Folk / Belt. E3 – B4. Vibrant, virile man, indulgent father, fond if forgetful husband. Deep love for his family. Moves well. Role will be pre-cast. Please contact Dom with interest.

MILES TUCK: Male – 23 (21 – 32). Bari-Tenor / Folk / Belt. F3 – C5. Burned and Bitter man. Lost his wife and child. Doomed to live a life with regret. Moves well. Role may be pre-cast. Please contact Dom with interest.

MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT: Mature Male (50 – 75). Bari-Tenor G3 – B4. Nefarious leader of a traveling carnival in search of the fountain of youth. Moves well. Role will be pre-cast. Please contact Dom with interest.

BETSY FOSTER: Female (35 – 45). Mezzo- Soprano (Legit) A3 – E5. Winnie’s Mother; gentle woman broken by grief, fear and loss. Brave, and unbending. Moves Well. Role will be pre-cast. Please contact Dom with interest.

NANA: Mature Female (50 – 75). Alto / Folk A3 – C#5. Grandmother of Winnie, loopy old woman, but a loving grandmother and mother. Excellent Comic timing. Non-Dancer. Role will be pre-cast. Please contact Dom with interest.

HUGO: Male – 17 Tenor / Folk / Country G3 – C5. Shy, awkward, goofy. Constable Joe’s sidekick and son. Dancer.

CONSTABLE JOE: Mature Male (50 – 75). Baritone / Folk / Country F3 – B4. Head of police force, seemingly a buffoon, but has sharp wit and kind heart. Moves Well.

ENSEMBLE: Strong singers and dancers to portray the townsfolk and forest spirits of Treegap, New Hampshire.
