Storytellers

Saturday Storytellers

Ages 5-7
Saturdays | 9:30 - 11 | $100

Instructor: Alyssa Baker

A great introduction to theatre, this class focuses on story creation will guide students through the different aspects of theatre using storybooks as their guide. Dance, sing, act, and play every Saturday to learn what it means to be a “Storyteller!”

Intro to Acting

Ages 8-10

Build your performance toolkit with the basics every young thespian should know - from audition prep to opening night! In this class you will work on projection and diction, characterization, and physicality. New this year: we’ve split the class up into two age groups to better individualize the class to different ability levels.

Intro to Acting

Advanced Acting: Shakespeare

See why The Bard and his work continue to prevail in this specialized acting class. Learn the basics of iambic pentameter and other necessary skills for performing Shakespeare while diving into some of theatre’s most famous works.

This class will explore different musical theatre singing styles and select group and solo pieces to work on in those styles. Students will also work on improving their range and music reading abilities. Playwriting

In this class, you will explore the basics any aspiring playwright needs. From plot structure, formatting, and the nuances that make playwriting a different skill set than standard creative writing, this class is the perfect jumping off-point for anyone looking to explore the creative options theatre has to offer off the stage.

Stage Combat Workshop

Ages 10-14

Have some fun learning how to (fake) fight! In this special workshop, students will learn the basics of hand to hand stage combat from an instructor who trained with The Society of American Fight Directors.

SFX Horror Makeup Workshop

Get in the Halloween spirit and learn how to create incredible horror makeup looks like realistic wounds, Zombie skin, or a witch nose! Included as a part of the registration fee is a small SFX makeup kit to take home. (Allergy warning: latex.)

Playhouse Improv Jam

The Playhouse Improv Jam is for beginner and experienced improvisers alike to explore new forms, play together, and provide a fun environment to meet new people.
