The Erie Playhouse is making history again, announcing the first show of its 2025 season, the hit broadway musical WAITRESS.
The 2025 season opener was announced with a livestreamed performance of “She Used to be Mine,” by Kate Thiem accompanied by Devon Yates, and remarks by Artistic Director Richard Davis, and Zach Flock, Executive Director.
Why announce a show nearly a full year in advance?
“We are thrilled to be among the first community theatres to produce WAITRESS, [to be] running January 31 through February 16, 2025,” said Davis. “A few months ago, we were contacted by [Musical Theatre International]. Knowing our track record of outstanding productions, MTI offered us the opportunity to make history again as one of the first non-professional companies to produce the hit Broadway musical WAITRESS. We jumped at the chance!”
This isn’t the first time the Erie Playhouse has earned the privilege of introducing audiences to premiere community productions of well-known shows, from DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to LES MISERABLES.
Audition information and production staff will be announced in coming weeks.
Tickets will be available closer to performance dates. Current season ticket holders (and patrons who purchase season tickets for this year) will have the opportunity to renew and lock in seats for WAITRESS before they go on sale to the general public.
